Breeks. More Breeks. Please.

And so it was that the best week I've had in a long, long, long time emphatically came to an end due to a quite atrocious morning.

'Emphatically' may not be the most appropriate word to use there. Actually, it's just a generally inappropriate word that I bandy about too much.

Back to the aforementioned week.

Why was it good, you may ask?

It just was (in-depth analysis and perceptive discussion has always been a strength of mine). It seemed like every day was just golden. Good things happened, more or less, from last Friday (when I finished up at Deloitte) to this Friday. Most of it revolved around friends, cool people (a subcategory of friends), and family. Funny how good times always seem to centre around them.

I was going to do something crazy and wild yesterday, to maximise the utility of the luck and stuff coming my way, but it occurred to me that this awesome spell wasn't necessarily going to last for a full week. And, even if it was, I shouldn't push it too far. Because we all know what happens when you do.

Anyway, as it happened, it ended up being pretty much a week anyway.

However, after the pretty bad morning, it did pick up again somewhat in the arvo, which leaves me (probably unreasonably) hopeful.

Here's to another brilliant week!

Definitely not cool

Yes, the weather wasn't very cool today.

In fact, one could go so far to say it was very hot.

I was outside for about 15 minutes watering the cabbages around noon, and I swear my skin got three shades darker.

Banh and Nigel intelligently came over in the afternoon, bringing food of course.

Days like this make me feel sort of guilty. Like, if I don't leave the house, I'm fine and cool, because we have fairly good air-conditioning. But there are a lot of people who are not so fortunate. I actually recognise the fact that the surroundings that I live in are fairly upper standard.

It's a trade-off really. I mean, I meet a lot of people that wear really nice clothes, and have a lot of them, but their houses are very run-down. A lot of the time, I guess it's all dependent on where you put your money. Sometimes I wish I had a more varied wardrobe, although I definitely don't think it's too shabby. There's just not a lot of overly expensive stuff in there. Which is good.

But then you meet people, and by people I mean most of my friends, to which your varied wardrobe doesn't matter all that much to them. And that makes me realise how much cooler it is to have a nice house. Not that I dress like a slob. Most of the time. I have standards too.

But yeah, next time a day like this comes around, I should invite more of my friends over to avoid the heat. Seems like the right thing to do. But they must bring food. Or drinks. Either's fine.

Lucky Andrew

Sometimes, I just cannot believe how unlucky I am. It gets to the point where it borders on ridiculous and unbelievable, like someone setting you up the whole way.

Take today, as a completely random example. My mum decided to take us all to DFO in Moorabin, despite my insistence that I had grave misgivings about Moorabin and the DFO in it.

We got there, all excited, then found out that it wasn't nearly as good as the Spencer's Street one, which I was suggesting we go to in the first place (for those of you that don't know, I've been on a scarf hunt for well over a month now). Further, there were hardly any scarves, or much clothing that was good in a general sense. My sisters, Carmen, and my mum all bought stuff. I didn't.

Come lunch, we stopped at the 'foodcourt' to dine. There, there was a dodgy Asian restaurant called 'Magic Wok,' which tasted vile and had people who couldn't speak English or Chinese, and Subway. I chose Subway. It finally turned out that there was another, much better foodcourt full of bright lights and good-looking food.

We eventually came upon a mountain of cheap denim. Problem was, there was also a mountain of people. It was crazy. There was a line to get in to the fitting room.

To top all this misadventure off, my mum lost her $200 bracelet we bought her last Mother's Day. Sigh. Woe is me.

On a random note, basketball on Thursday! With NQT people! Should be a blast.
